What is the difference between Rectangle Flags, Feather Flags (or Angled Flag Banners) and Teardrop Flags
The only difference is the shape. The Rectangle Flag has “Rectangle” shape where the Feather Flag (also called Angled Flags, Razor Flags or Bow Banners) has a more of a “bow” shape and the Teardrop Flag has a “teardrop” shape. You can see the Feather Flag and Teardrop Flag shapes on their web pages.
What is the actual size of each Rectangle Flag?
Our Rectangle Flags are available in four sizes. The sizes are as follows:
Height when setup Flag Size
Flag Type (including pole) (Width x Height)
Small 59” 28” x 44”
Medium 85” 28” x 69”
Large 124” 28” x 108”
Jumbo 164” 28” x 148”
What material is your Rectangle Flag made out of?
Our Rectangle Flags are made from our high quality SignWeave™ polyester fabric material which is weather resistant. Our single sided flags are printed on our 3.5 oz. SignWeave™ material. Our double sided flags are printed on 2 layers of our special 4.3 oz. SignWeave™ material which has a blockout on the back, and these 2 layers are sewn together. This blockout material ensures that the graphic is not affected by any sunlight bleeding through - so you will always have a vibrant graphic on both sides.
What is shown on the other side of a single sided flag?
When we print a single sided flag we only print on one side of the polyester fabric. The ink then bleeds through the polyester fabric so that it is displayed on the other side in less vibrancy and in mirror reverse to the printed side.
If you need your graphic to be viewed the correct way on both sides you should select double sided print.
What is shown on the other side of a double sided flag?
When we print a double sided flag we print 2 seperate flags on our special blockout material and sew them together. So your print image will be displayed correctly on both sides.
Can I have different designs on the front and back of the double sided flags?
Yes - the double sided can have a different design on each side of the flag.
How long will the Rectangle Flag last?
All of our polyester flags are printed using the dye sublimation process which provides a high quality print and vibrant colors.
When used internally (i.e. out of the sun and weather) these flags will last indefinitely.
When used outdoors the dye sublimation print will fade over time and the amount of fading will depend on the amount of UV the flag is exposed to. As an indication we would expect the flags to last 6 - 12 months before noticeably fading but this could vary depending on the conditions the flags are exposed to. Flags left out in harsh conditions are more likely to fade within 3 months of use.
It should be noted that flags supplied by other suppliers in America will last for the same amount of time as they are all printed with the same dye sublimation process.
Our replacement flags have very low prices so you can simply replace the flags when required and continue to use the same poles and bases.
Will the wind blow my Rectangle Flag over?
When the Rectangle Flag is being used outdoors and secured with one of our bases, a light wind will not affect the Rectangle Flag. However the large surface of the flag can cause it to be affected by heavy wind conditions or extreme weather.
Can the same flagpoles be used for other flag sizes?
No. Each flag pole set is designed for that specific flag size.
What is the “sleeve”?
The sleeve is the 2” wide pole pocket that the pole slides through. The sleeve is a special stretch material which is double stitch sewn to the edge of the polyester fabric flag
Are your flags a matte or gloss finish?
Our SignWeave™ polyester fabric material and the dye sublimated print provides a high quality matte finish.
Should I use one of your templates when designing my flag?
If you are designing your own flag we recommend it is best to use our templates. This way you can ensure that your design is set up to the correct size and best uses the size of the flag. If you do not have your own design, we offer a free design service. Just send us any logos, photos or text you wish to use and we will prepare the design for you to check and approve.
What base should I use when placing the Rectangle flag on loose or thick soil?
When using the Rectangle Flag on soil or grass we recommend using the ground stake. This base is a 20” long solid piece of metal that can be driven into the ground. We advise that you should always hammer the spike section and do not strike the spindle/barrel section to avoid any damage to the ball bearing swivel barrel.
You can also use the Cross Base or the premium Cross Base but we recommend selecting the option of the water bag if using the Feather Flag outdoors. The water bag when filled weighs 24 lbs and will help keep the flag stable in stronger wind conditions.Depending on the size of your flag, you will have a choice of up to 3 Heavy Duty Bases - heavy duty ground spike, heavy duty square bases, and 20L water base. The lighter bases are not as stable; however, are more economical as well as easier to handle and ship. .
Can the water bag be filled with sand?
We recommend that you only fill the water bag with water. It is possible to fill it with sand, but it may be very difficult to remove the sand. The water bag is designed so you can fill it with water and empty it when you need to transport it to another location. The water bag when filled weighs 24 lbs and will help keep the flag stable in strong wind conditions. We recommend our 20L water base as an alternative if you are looking for a more reliable stable base.
Can the fabric flag banner be attached to another type of pole?
The Rectangle flag has been specifically designed to fit onto the Fabric Sign Guys pole set. It is not designed to be used with any other brand of pole or any other method of displaying.
Will the Rectangle Flag melt in direct sunlight?
The Rectangle Flag will not melt in direct sunlight, but frequent direct exposure to direct sunlight can cause the color to fade over time.
Are your Rectangle Flags fire resistant?
No the Rectangle Flag material is not designed to be fire resistant - so we strongly recommend that you avoid placing it near open flames to avoid permanently destroying the flag.
How do I assemble my Rectangle Flag?
It is very easy to set up your Rectangle and should take no more than 5 minutes.
First take out all of the poles. Take the largest pole (which will be the bottom of the flagpole) and then insert the next largest pole into the end with the silver tip. Repeat this process until all vertical poles have been inserted and then attach the horizontal pole (the pole with the right angle bend).
Next take out your Rectangle Flag and locate the opening to the pole pocket. Place the end of the horizontal pole into the pole pocket opening and gently push the flag along the horizontal pole until it reaches the right angled bend. Bunch the flag up near the right angle - and then start pushing it around the right angle and down the vertical pole. Keep pushing the flag all the way until it can go no further and is covering the full rectangular shape.
*Important* At this point make sure that the end tip of the pole is inserted into the very end of the horizontal pole pocket. The very end of the pole pocket has double thickness and extra stitching as this is the point that will be under the most stress from the pole. It is important that the pole is completely inserted into this double thickness pocket.
Next locate the fabric loop that is sewn to the bottom of the pole pocket, and the black plastic adjustable tensioner that is attached near the bottom of the pole. Loosen the tensioning device by turning the butterfly screw anticlockwise - this will allow it to slide up and down the pole. Place the fabric loop around the hook on the black plastic tensioning device. Then pull the flag down until you have removed most of the wrinkles from the flag and it is sitting flat. Then tighten the tensioning device by turning the butterfly screw clockwise. Your flag and pole is now ready to attach to the base.
Now you can place the bottom of the pole onto the spindle on the top of the base. It should easily slide onto the spindle until it can go no further.
Your Rectangle Flag is now completely assembled and is now ready to be placed into the position of use.
If the Rectangle Flag looks creased, how do I fix this?
It depends how creased the flag is.
If the flag is badly bunched up, it is most likely a tensioning problem. Simply loosen the black tensioning device at the bottom of the pole and then try releasing the tension, or increasing the tension - until the flag is nice and smooth. Then tighten the tensioning device.
If there are creases where the flag has been folded, these will come out over time when being used outside. If you need to remove the creases faster, you can use a steamer to remove them immediately. You can also use a warm iron but this will take longer and you must use an ironing cloth so the iron does not touch the polyester fabric.
How do the individual poles attach together?
The poles simply insert into each other and are held together by friction and the force of the secured flag.
Does the pole set come with a carry bag?
You are able to add an optional carry bag to your order for easy transportation and storage of your pole set. Simply select “I would love one” from the Carry Bag dropdown when getting a quote and placing your order.
How should I look after my Rectangle Flag?
When displaying the Rectangle Flag outdoors, we recommend bringing it indoors after store hours to protect it from the weather and possible theft. The Rectangle Flag should not be used in extreme weather conditions (strong wind, heavy rain, snow etc).
When storing your Rectangle Flag you should ensure that it is clean and dry before folding for storage, to avoid any mould or mildew developing. The flag, poles and base should be stored in a safe dry area.
Can the Rectangle Flag be washed or tumble dried?
The polyester fabric flag can be cleaned in a washing machine on a gentle cycle using cold water - but please avoid using harsh detergents or bleach. Please do not place the fabric in a tumble dryer - only air dry the flag and ensure it is completely dry before storing.
